I grew up on my father's farm, always surrounded by animals. I love the outdoors and even as a child I would rather spend time running off in the woods and forests, often sitting in the trees in silence listening to the birds and other animals going about their day. I didn't have many friends growing up, and was never interested in hanging out at the local shopping center or the park, I was more than happy laying in the forest watching and listening to the world go by. I have always had animals and as a young child, my mother would despair at me as I brought yet another stray home to live with us, "oh no not another one!" she would often cry. I just couldn't help it! I was known as "Cat Mother" and I used to have a following of feline friends who would follow me about the farm, just like the Pied Piper! We have made many friends including many in the dog world (some of whom can be seen in our friends section of our website), thanks to our first Malamute Buck, who has given us a whole new world to explore and learn and meet new people and try new things. Buck, as I said above, is our first Alaskan Malamute. He has made us fall in love with this breed, a breed of dog we have always admired and have always wanted, but upon bringing Buck home, we knew we would never look back. The Alaskan Malamute, for me, is one of the few breeds left now, that is free from serious health issues affecting other breeds of dog, such as the Boxer and it's over-shot jaw, or the German Shepherd Dog, with its horrendous sloping and crippling top-line. The Alaskan Malamute is still a basic dog, close to it's ancestry. Dignified and regal with maturity, there is no breed that comes close. We are passionate about this breed and about our own dogs, and we never stop learning and researching. We love to help others, and offer advice, and also foster dogs for AMCUK Rescue. This helps not only the dog as it gets to live in a home environment and also with other dogs and people, but helps us keep on that learning path. It certainly makes a great relationship and win-win for us all whilst we wait for that perfect forever home to come along.
